    Redesign newspaper, Italy
l'Unità, Newspaper
Roma, Italia

L'Unita, the historic Italian newspaper founded by Antonio Gramsci in 1924, returns bigger. The new Unità is available in kiosks since May 7th 2012 in Berliner format. Sergio Juan Design Office has accompanied L'Unità's team lead by its director Claudio Sardo, Loredana Toppi (Art Director) and Fabrizio Meli (Managing Director), in this great change, establishing the project's guidelines, which aim at creating a fresher, more sophisticated, legible and elegant newspaper. The new typefaces are Expresso by Portuguese type designer Mario Feliciano and Gotham by Hoefler & Frere-Jonesfoundry. Among the most significant novelties, the content organization of the newspaper in two large areas stands out: a "Primo Piano" containing current news and issues as well as political analysis, and a second part, "U", with contents related to culture, shows, society, interviews and reports
