In my second year of university I was asked to produce a cover design for Penguin Design Awards, the novel was the infamous Raymond Chandler crime thriller, The Big Sleep.  

I focused on vintage decor with a bold royal purple and cream colour pallete. I drew influence from Jan Tschichold's classical 'three band' design.

The design also features various motifs from the novel, enabling the cover to interact with the reader throughout the course of the book.
