I got fired. It made national news. And a national comedy skit.
Advertising loves controversy. A simple retail ad with a fun slogan 'Drive it like you stole it" created quite the stir. It made national news, and the Royal Canadian Air Farce ended up doing a skit on it. Even though a poll showed that consumers was split 50/50 on whether it was a offensive or not, it was decided heads had to roll for the controversy, and the creative team fell under the guillotine. Made for a good story though.
