City of New Westminster, Slam Central
The brief was to create an identity for this event that would appeal to 15-35 year olds and help make Slam Central a premiere spoken word event in Metro Vancouver, and also showcase New Westminster as a burgeoning cultural hub.
A common image that represents slam poetry is two boxers with a microphone between them, so I took this idea and also tried to reflect New West's history as the oldest city in Western Canada by looking at early 20th century boxing posters and tickets. I also included some layers of New West landmarks and railway maps from the 1910's mixed with modern printing techniques.
