Victorian Woodworkers Association

The brief was for a new branding and website that represents the VWA for 2020 and beyond, looking to a new generation of the VWA whilst acknowledging the rich history and the contributions of the past. The new website needs to be a new hub created for VWA woodworking community.

The earliest form of the VWA logo was a tree which was used for an exhibition in 1993. The 'wood shaving' logo appeared soon after, most likely inspired by the cover of John Makepeace's book "The Art of Making Furniture". VWA believe the initial illustration was created by VWA former President and life member Will Matthysen, who later developed the concept further in 2003.

We simplified and further abstracted version of the 'wood shaving' concept. It represents VWA ever-evolving but always strong community of woodworkers and all craftspeople in Victoria and across the country.

The website is now easier to join and pay for membership online to become a VWA member. It also has the benefits to buy public and product liability insurance. New and current students of Victorian School of Woodcraft are now able to see woodwork class vacancies, book and pay for a spot in an upcoming class. VWA members now have the opportunity to add a profile and upload their folios.

Completed in 2021.
