Lost Fiction // Mascot

Character Design
Lost Fiction (a lo-fi hip hop record label) got in touch a while back with regards to illustrating a character in a scene for a YouTube video, showcasing a playlist of some of their releases. As time went by we reused the character as a brand mascot of sorts, and he appeared in a lot more of their (still ongoing) social media posts and other web content.

Since the character was originally not intended to be used so prominently, a lot of the typical character design decisions weren't taken into consideration at an early stage, but tweaks and adaptations of the character's look and style evolved as we went along to help emphasise aspects and make him more memorable (his hair becoming a key feature).

...And he still doesn't have a name - suggestions are welcome! 🤓

Enjoy!

The first of many illustrations for the Lost Fiction.

We were still finding our stylistic feet with these initial social media spot illustrations.

A Christmas social media post announcing a new mix - you can see quite a clear evolution of the character here.

Another wintery social post.

Reminiscing.

Chillin' on the curb.

The latest illustration at the time of writing this - I started incorporating more of an organic, textured look to humanise the style a bit more.

Working with the record label directly also presented new opportunities such as creating album cover artwork for two of their signed artists, Kudasaibeats and Heyz (below). Hopefully there will be many more illustrations to come!

3 Consecutive single release covers for Kudasaibeats.

Cover artwork for Heyz' single, "See Me".

Thanks for stopping by and checking out this project!
