The Piet Zwart Institute (PZI) houses the international Master programmes of the Willem de Kooning Academy at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (RUAS). The Piet Zwart Institute houses four full-time Master programmes, Interior Architecture: Research + Design (MIARD); Master of Arts in Fine Art and Design, which encompasses Fine Art (MFA) Lens-Based Media (LB) and Experimental Publishing (XPUB) and two part-time Master programmes, Education in Arts (MeiA) and Master Design. For the graduation shows PZI wanted to showcase each master in collective and individual visuals.
Our team of designers looked for ways to represent each master programme as a part of the institute, yet showcase each master’s uniqueness. For this mission we chose to connect masters through a colour pallet that was later cut out into smaller fragments that were used to represent the individual master. To have a cohesive look of all the posters, we chose the same typography style and similar placements. Colours were chosen by interviewing master students to figure out what colours represent them most.
