All Knotted Up (Deconstruction Project)

"Deconstruction is the dismantling of clothes with an aim of destroying fashion”

In the process of this project I had to go out to different thrifts stores buying different pieces of garments and deconstuct them into something of my own. Not knowing at all what my idea was nor how to start off but making sure I stayed true to myself. I then went on and bought many plaid pieces from dresses to skirts, even men blazer and a few other pieces. I started to cut up the pieces and draping them on a manikin which gave me a vision of how I wanted to take this project to the next level. Doing research to research I then came across an image of knotted rope. My mind then exploded with the idea of trying to mimic or test out rope tying just with fabric instead. Being Inspired, I was pulling ideas for my silhouette from the 1960’s vintage “Bubble Dresses”. Still making sure I embrace the female body with Femininity. I then sliced the different pieces into two and sizing every piece up the same so it would balance all the way around on the skirt. Tying the different fabrics together really enhanced and brought the idea and view on my project together.
