Neanderthal Jones is a new band coming out of the Tecumseh & Shawnee Oklahoma area. I've known a few of the band members for years and even played in a band with them before. They came to me needing a logo and T-Shirt design for the new band. The original idea was a Neanderthal holding up a modern human skull with one hand, but replace the skull with a mammoth skull, but after doing some research, there is no way someone could hold a mammoth skull with one hand because they weigh like 1000lbs, so I decided to try a pose that was more like Atlas holding up the world, but change the world to a giant mammoth skull. and made his face look like a Neanderthal. I grabbed a bunch of resources but ended up mainly going off of a few. All of the paths were drawn in Photoshop with the pen tool, I drew the tan areas first, then drew the white highlights, finished it up with some blood splatters. I love how it turned out. the most difficult part that really helped sell the combination was the shadows of the tusks on the arms and body. It's not perfect, but I like it. It's a nice silhouette.
