Luft is an air cooler luminaire that redefines the archetype of traditional air coolers. Designed to be elegant in its form, spatial presence and the way users will interact with it. Luft is re-engineered with a vertical airflow form and hygroscopic filter that can triple the cooling performance of conventional coolers in humid regions.
Opportunity
Air coolers are fantastic green alternative to air conditioner to provide cooling air to users. however the effectiveness of air cooler is inhibited by the humidity of the ambient surrounding. Making the air coolers futile in tropical regions that could benefit from it.

How do we increase the cooling effectiveness of air coolers ?
Easy accessibility is one of the key features of the design. Water and ice can be refilled from the top of the cooler, a contrasting difference to the current drawer-style tanks that requires users to reach below the cooler.

The current design and limitation of air coolers derive from a cost-effective standpoint. They are designed and made to be affordable and easily produce so as to be an accessible product for the masses. In this project, the factor of the cost was removed so as to push the boundary of what an air cooler could possibly be without those external factors.
