For my final major project, I became fascinated by illuminated manuscripts and the intricately designed drop cap letters that were used to both decorate, as well as to clearly highlight the start of a new section of text in old scripture. 

I wanted to explore how I could create drop cap letters in a more modern way, and eventually found myself experimenting with the craft of paper quilling. My project resulted in x3, A2 sized drop cap letters that depicted the elements, water, fire and earth.
