Kaodes Mechamosquito
Concept art for a mechanical mosquito for the game project Kaodes.

The project is a creature collectioning game set up in a post-apocalyptical world.

The mosquito is a monster found in a swamp zone, and my first idea is to relate it to environnement exploitation (one of Kaode's main themes).
The first idea, and some studies to catch the mosquito shape.

I decided to give the mosquito a more modern, motor look so I studied some as well.
Precising ideas with shapes.
I took an aggressive shape and then draw upon it. Duplicating the layer allow me to try various sizes and shapes for design elements (wings, head, weapon).
I chose the needle design, more related to mosquito. I finish the design part by trying different colors. Sickness, shiney metal, danger, rust are ideas I declined here.
I do sketches to find the posing for the final artwork. I search something dynamic and still understandable. 
Last step, inking and painting the final artwork! Kaodes is a game using illustrations so it doesn't have to be animated. I may change it a bit after working on the others monsters.
