Operation Bath Remodel - Before and After - Spring 2014

Here they are! The 'before' photos of our upstairs bath, one day before the demo begins to make way for a complete remodel. A few notes about this space. It is the only room in our home that we have only added a  couple of  cosmetic touches to (we added the brushed bronze towel holder/rings and we added plantation shutters to the windows a few years back)   since purchasing our home nine years ago.

While there is a lot that I didn't like about this space from the very start, one thing that I have enjoyed very much  is how sunny and light filled the room is. We look to keep that light benefit with a pretty blue paint color on the walls, adding a little more depth while retaining that brightness that I've come to appreciate. The footprint of the space will remain the same, however, every aspect of the bath will be new - from the walls/ceiling/floors to all the fixtures and everything in between.

Our design looks super - we can't wait to see how it matches up to the finished product! Tata for now - 'after" photos to be added in a couple of weeks :)
Day One - Demo! So far so good, as these things go :) No surprises so far, which is a super good thing!

The absolute best part of the demo was finding an exposed beam from 1985 when the bath was originally remodeled (by a professional)  by the Deems family - the family that had the house built in 1930! Their son bought the home from his parents when he grew up and proceeded to raise his family in his childhood home - Amanda and Emily were his daughters, the granddaughters of the home's original builder. The girls wrote a note for posterity that "they were here in 1985". We added "...and so were Stacy and Randy, Trevor, Mischka and Kinsey..."  Neat!
Third update installment!

Since the last upload:

Space framed, drywalled, painted, floor tiles set (still need to have grout done - will happen on 3/31). Upcoming in the final week of the project: tub area to be tiled, accent lighting added to shower area, vanity/mirror and fixtures installed. In short, the next update should include photos of the finished project - wahoo!!
Almost done! This is the next to last update, as the space is scheduled to be finished up tomorrow - yay!!!

Still to be done at this point: various touch-ups, the mirror/tile back splash, hanging the towel bars/tp holder, completing of shower door(s) installation. And of course, one final clean up of the space and then? I can finally accessorize :)
And that's a wrap, folks :)

As remodel projects go - particularly major ones like this where everything was taken out and replaced new, including the plumbing - this was a very well done job! The company that we used, BSC of Hampstead MD was excellent, and we definitely felt that they lived up to their advertised quality, high level of customer service and attention to detail/pride in workmanship! There isn't one thing that we'd do over as regards this project. In fact, we are happily looking forward to our next home projects :)
