Far away from politics and so close to art The session of the poet Mahmoud Darwish International festival for the Palestinian film 31July to 9 August 2014 A revolutionary cinema will sweep the world by its fleet that’s loaded by projection screens standing in the world’s fields to release Palestinian pictures and stories of targeted civilians. Our belief in the importance of cinema and its effective role in raising public awareness of the issues and the different social and political phenomena, our awareness of the seriousness and hazardous phase of the Palestinian issue under the prevailing situation of the Arab world. Arts group tried to take the initiative to launch the international festival of Palestinian film. Some may wonder why the world?! To answer this; a description of this festival has to be put between your hands We believe that the idea of this festival is the first of its kind in the history of cinema, where it will be held in more than 30 countries in all continents of the world during 10 days. Besides, it will be published at least 200 Display in all participating states and this will take place in summer mostly in places filled with people such as beaches, gardens as well as cultural centers and theaters. Three films will be displayed daily by the time-zone of Jerusalem and in conjunction with Palestine and in the same time they will be shown in these countries day by day. Among the leading countries that manage the coordination of the festival we find: Egypt, Tunisia, Russia, Brazil, China, Canada, South Africa and many other countries in Asia and Europe. The first session which has been chosen the name of the immortal humanitarian poet Mahmoud Darwish, will manage to display as much as possible of films of the Palestinian experience of cinema. Films that its stories ‘places are not abridged only on Palestine, but they relate and record a diaspora of Palestinian tales, and in most places of Palestinian refugees, starting from Beirut to Brazil through many countries. The managers of the festival have stated that the idea of the festival has been prepared for more than two years and after direct coordination after some visits to Arab countries, the most prominent country among them was Tunisia, during the International Arab Film in Nabeul and the Festival of Carthage where a meeting with many artists and directors and Cultural institutions of different nationalities had been taken place. The idea began to grow up further more to reach the phase of formulating a network of coordinators in various countries and a network of volunteers of not less than 200 person all over the world, specifically for organizing the films display. In addition to the adherence of many institutions that will contribute with the logistics equipment. The organizers of the festival have said that the inauguration of the first session of the festival will take place during Aid-Alfater. And this will be in conjunction with the memorial day of the passing away of Mahmoud Darwish, and also, the nomination of the Tunisian artist Mr. Tahir Agroudi to be the head of the first session of the festival and it is worth mentioning that the artist Mr. Tahir Agroudi presided over many artistic events such as the international Arab cinema in Nabeul, and the international Festival of Puppet theater. Mr. Taher Agroudi has stated that this technical demonstration, sought by the first festival, aims to consolidate and draw attention of the international community about the amount of suffering of the Palestinian issue and their reality through the focus on films that its main topics are about the rights, dreams and ambitions of Palestinians. And about the humanitarian issues involving all peoples of the world. The working groups in the festival have insisted that the Festival will emerge as an embodiment of the suffering and the steadfastness of Palestinian, and to tell that this choice of the international festival is a patriotic and unitary choice in the first place. Moreover, the organizers (Mr. Tahar Agroudi, Mr. Ibrahim Najwah and Mr. Tarek Hamid) had alluded that their main concern is the artistic act in its depth and majesty and far away from the political pressure of any kind and shape, and so close to art as the theme of life and the struggle to maintain the artistic identity. The working group is still working around the clock to ensure and guarantee effectiveness of order in professional and meticulous way, and to put in mind that the members of the committees and arbitration are among the filmmakers and creative professionals and involved and educated persons such as Palestinians, Arabs and foreigners. The standards that the committees of arbitration will work by, its first title will be “Honesty, transparency, objectivity and professionalism” concerning movies’ choices and arrangement.
