Psychedelic Music Poster

This is a "psychedelic" poster that was designed by me for my Graphic Design 2 course.
The poster features a multiple layered image of the singer/songwriter Kesha.

Psychedelic. How fun, how difficult, how Kesha! I jumped straight into researching more about the specific time period and learned more about how the use of borders, hierarchy, patterns, scale, and the use of shapes was a very significant feature to this theme. With my Adobe skills, I first went to my sketchbook and produced many many designs of how I wanted my poster to look like. The focus of my poster is this really recent picture of Kesha that I really appreciated, and took that and ran with it. It turned out to be a struggle, due to the fact that she isn't necessarily in the center, with one hand up and the other hand open facing the viewer; showcasing her eye tattoo on her right palm. I wanted to feature that picture due to most of the time psychedelic posters included the artist or a figure in them. I was also told to look deeper into psychedelic posters to notice how there really aren't many colors, and how it focuses on around 4 colors. In my final design I only used four colors, the background is two shades of purple, my “extension” of Kesha is pink, and then the glitter, which pops out the most. Implementing the glitter aspect was a lot of fun messing around with.
