Game Point YouTube Channel

Game Point (link) is a YouTube channel to simplify game night, created as the final project for my Masters degree in Learning Experience Design.
Research
To understand the needs of those learning games, I formulated 11 research questions and used a variety of methods to answer each. I observed 7 groups or individuals learning games and interviewed them about their experiences, completed 5 longer interviews with frequent game teachers or learners, analyzed several existing rulebooks and game rule videos, scraped and analyzed data on existing game rule videos, studied YouTube best practices, and explored scientific literature in instructional theory, game teaching (in tabletop gaming, video gaming, and sports), educational video development, and design processes.
Video Development Process
Videos are developed iteratively, beginning with an analysis of the game's rules and processes. Scripting, storyboarding, filming, editing, and testing with target users overlap and cycle to continually refine the video's content and presentation.
Channel Setup and Branding
The Channel brand includes a logo, colors, header image, typography, and thumbnail style. Several logo concepts were narrowed down and refined through several rounds of feedback from target users.
Tools
- Scripting in WriterDuet and Google Docs
- Data Analysis in Microsoft Excel
- Filmed on Canon DSLR
- Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro
- Logos designed in Adobe Illustrator
- Channel art and thumbnails created in Adobe Photoshop
