Designed for a conceptual lighting course, The Bo Light doubles as a formal accent light and a tool for long exposure photography.  The concept is a battery powered Led strip, inset into a turned tapered stick, or Bo (after the traditional okinawan self-defense weapon).  The final fabrication would feature a base that plugs into a wall outlet, charging the Bo Light when at rest.

There are a few different possibilities for the finishing quality.  If it were to be marketed as formal lighting, I should think it would be made from hard wood, and include brass detailing.  However, if it was a product marketed for light photography it might be more appropirate to mold it in plastic, and offer color options, wire it with RGB LEDs and give the user more options for controlling the light strip (flashing, color changing, different on/off settings).

This is one of the few conceptual productions I've executed.  I built this model in a few hours, and then took a twenty minute photo shoot.  To work in an immediate way, and disregard the resolution of the finished object is an effcient way to develop ideas without committing prescious time to their complete fabrication.
