Sun / Line / Leaf. Żelazowa Wola photographed by Czesław Olszewski
Temporary exhibition at the Birthplace of Fryderyk Chopin and Park in Żelazowa Wola
Temporary exhibition at the Birthplace of Fryderyk Chopin and Park in Żelazowa Wola
Czesław Olszewski made his name photographing modernist Warsaw, capturing the image of the city as it altered between the wars. He was a documentalist with an exceptional feel for solid objects, which he brought to the fore thanks to his keen observation of natural light and astute choice of lenses, making those objects the focal point of his photographs irrespective of their composition. On his photographs of the Żelazowa Wola park and its furniture, both the wide, landscape images and the narrower frames, always in the foreground is the flora, invariably in full sunlight.
