Welcom good ideas and advises about the story! :)

 

It was made for Savannijam 2014, which is a 24-hour animation competition. The team, including my two friends and me, participated in this activity  and won the 2nd place of this competition.

Thanks for all friends' efforts for this piece. The process is very exciting and interesting.

I created the story, designed the charators and backgrounds, and also animated most shots. The theme of this year Savannijam competition is "five senses". My main idea of this story is to show how one person and another person to complete each others' lives and become a part of each other's life. Due to the limited time, I am still not satisified with the story, but we have to start and finish it in 20 hours. I set the background around 1960s and used many representative elements into the design, such as Jazz music.

This video is not the orignal one that is made in 20 hours, but the openning and the end are remained  the same as the previous one. The main change I made on my own is  to add some shots that they meet at the first time in the rain. The orignal one is 1 min30secs, and now it is 4mins20secs. I spent a few weeks to complete the story. It is still needed to add more designs to some dramatic scences. Especially, at the end they find each other again and dance to the moon. This is made for a short-term assignment, so it's not perfect and still needed a lot of improvement. But,  making this animation is a kind of challenge and special experience to me. For example, Designing abstract character, editing Jazz music and animating in ToonBoom are very new experience to me. There is always some thing new that I need to learn, and some defects are needed to improve.
