Apom: EmpatBelas 2022
In Collaboration with A Piece Of Malaysia, the EmpatBelas campaign is to celebrate the 14 states of Malaysia through different curated merchandise designed by 14 local talents, each representing their home state.
The illustration is inspired by jokes made about how Sarawakians do not have transportation and live on trees, therefore I drew a kucing happily using a crocodile as a form of transportation. Though, I cannot lie that the crocodile seems like it's suffering from it HAHA.
Come visit Sarawak to find out if we do travel on crocodiles and live on trees.
Through the visual, I mainly try to capture the sunshine feeling of what it's like living in Sarawak rather than drawing the literal representation of things or places in Sarawak. Therefore, 2 humans with leaves as umbrellas are walking through a field of flowers,
a kucing tourist exploring within flora and fauna, and accompanied by a hornbill and a crocodile. I also use fun and bright colours on mountains, flora and fauna to represent the beauty and uniqueness of nature in Sarawak.
