October 2021

The process behind this project begins in late 2019. During November 2019 I first watched the HBO show Euphoria. The words in black painted on this project were said within the first five minutes of the first episode. It really resonated with me, and kind of helped me put a name to what I had been feeling. Although it still took me a while to do so, I was finally able to get the professional help I needed.

In early 2021 my therapist told me to do was to draw my anxiety and I was unsure of how I was going to achieve that, but knew it had to have a shaking/racing heart. Months later around October 2021 I came up with this idea and began experimenting with watercolor. Layering the paint was difficult, but eventually I achieved the look I wanted.

Overall, this piece describes my anxiety both verbally and visually, with the upside down heart emphasizing the chaos I correlate with the feeling. This is why it is called "Ansiedad" or Anxiety in Spanish.
