FireDrops Launch Video: A deep-dive

FireDrops Launch Video: A deep-dive
Sometimes, all that matters is a good story. This idea is evident in FireDrops’ teaser video, a 14-second long video that hinted at the upcoming launch of FireDrops — a Flipkart initiative in the Web3, metaverse space. But, the video did more than just tease a launch. It packed a punch with intriguing storytelling and distilled enough curiosity in the audience and helped kickstart an awareness campaign that brought massive reach and following for the brand.
Our design team at Cope.Studio was tasked with creating the graphic and animated universe for FireDrops. We knew that our creative approach would play a big role in building mystery and hype around the launch. So, to make sure that a cohesive structure and concept are maintained across all features, both animated and visualized, the team decided to set some ground rules.
As the first rule of design, we established the personality and branding of FireDrops, which would serve as the broad boundaries for the video. Secondly, we decided that the project would need to support the lore of the FireDrops universe instead of it being a separate entity altogether. All that was needed was to identify and lock the elements and visualizations that were harmonious with the branding and brand storyline.
The lore of FireDrops is based around a civilization, born out of a volcanic eruption, in the mountain of Agniva in the Indian subcontinent. India was never colonized, and it thrived and became a seat of technological and futuristic advancements.
Our goal here was to highlight the nature of NFT drops. Since the FireDrops logo was a vibrant crystal that evoked a feeling of rarity and brilliance, our moodboard became a canvas of dazzling crystals and light interactions.
The team wanted the focal point of the video to be the brand itself. So, we played with the logo as a central character by making the reveal centre around the crystal — this was shown with the dimming of lights and the main crystal burning brighter than others to it transitioning into the brand logo.
After experimenting with different narratives for the teaser, we settled on creating a journey through time and space from the present world that ended with a reveal of the kingdom of FireDrops.
To present this journey, we experimented with a teleportation element, represented through a tunnel that takes the viewer to a mysterious world. Further, to bring authenticity to the storyline, we played around with abrasions in and around the crystals to signify the passage of time. There were also several ideations with realistic light interactions that changed with a change in the perspective of the crystal.
As we were working with the theme of Indo-Futurism, we wanted to create an atmosphere that was both futuristic and yet evoked a sense of India’s past. Different props were used that showed prosperity and reminded of the country's past, like crystals and architectural structures and sub-structures.
Finally, here are a few behind the curtains, no-makeup, render greyness to complete the story.
