Accessibility Evaluation for ModCloth

Accessibility Evaluation for ModCloth
ModCloth’s iOS app is central to its mobile-first retail strategy. Our evaluation focused on accessibility within the search, browse, and filter functions. I used a three-tier evaluation method, which examines the website’s code both automated and manually, and the performance of each task step by step while keeping with target visitor in mind.
The data obtained and analyzed through this evaluation will help ensure ModCloth is committed to providing an experience that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of their abilities or available technology. In its culmination, ModCloth will be able to use this evaluation to increase the accessibility and usability of its platforms and adhere to web accessibility standards and guidelines.
Evaluation Plan and Results
The purpose of this evaluation is to aid ModCloth in creating a Web Accessibility Plan. The results will provide ModCloth with enough information to build its own systematic process to enhance web accessibility and support compliance with Web Accessibility Standards.

This evaluation will also allow for ongoing web accessibility testing that will be used to both monitor and maintain compliance goals. The results will be made available to support ModCloth’s webmasters in developing and maintaining accessible website applications. Long-term implementation of these practices will ensure ModCloth’s platform becomes accessible to the widest possible audience while continuing ModCloth’s mission of inclusivity for all.
Lessons Learned
• Advocate for users. Users come from all different backgrounds, abilities, and points of access. Each user deserves to have a voice and an equally good experience with a product.
• Save time and money by conducting proper research and preventing spending unnecessary money.
• Accessible design benefits all users. Making accessibility central to a product ensures a good experience for all.
