Shakespeare - Event promotion

The brief asked to interpret one of Shakespeare’s plays and to design and execute a promotion campaign for it in order to bring a new audience to a local theatre. According to my geographic location, my local theatre was The Coronet, London

The project started with recognizing the theatre’s profile in the past and in the present through investigation of the events and designs through time
The Coronet has operated as an entertainment venue for over 100 years, and is nowadays marketing itself to a young audience. The purpose of this project was to bring in the people who know the venue for a long time, to celebrate nostalgia, life and love through Shakespeare
A new logo, that is influenced by the art deco style used in the interior design of The Coronet.
A promotion poster for the event, that tells the story of Romeo & Juliet as elderly.
A two colour screen print experiment for the poster.
Since the audience is the elderly, I decided to use traditional promotion methods like letters and printed handkerchiefs.
An invitation letter with handmade gold foiling to emphasize the atmosphere of art deco.
Two branded handkerchiefs, one for each family in the story of Romeo & Juliet, including the family logo and their seal. Each handkerchief has been screen printed with two colours
The designs of the symbols for the two competing families were inspired by two contradict styles: art deco and art nouveau.
Capulet family handkerchief.
Montague family handkerchief.
Branded bags containing bread crumbs for bird feeding. Each bag has been screen printed and presents each family.
Sketches I did during the design of Capulet family logo.
The first sketch of the poster.
