The Quest of Everlight - Tifana and Zain
It has been several weeks already since Zain managed to convince Tifana about the urgency of his mission. Ever since that day they didn’t part ways. Tifana’s high social standing and fame helped them to secure lodging and food by convincing local villagers to help them, while Zain used his skills to find their way to the Everlight and keep them both safe. And although it has only been weeks, it felt like they knew each other forever. Getting a smile out of Tifana has often become a hidden occupation during long walks of Zain, her tingling laughter illuminating the forest no worse than the Everlight ever could.
Tifana on the other hand couldn’t leave the feeling of dread behind. She was in Everlight territory, which means this place was crawling with Keepers and Patrols, strolling the area for another Everlight.
Now that they had both the light and the Wisdom Tree, they had to get down to Areflor as quickly as their legs would carry them, or risk being discovered. This would otherwise most likely mean being incarcerated in some boring tower and married off to whoever will appear strategic enough to her father, while for Zain it would mean certain death. She knew, that planting the Wisdom Tree was the only way to safe the magical forests which gave the lands around its life. What she would do after, if they succeeded, she didn’t know yet. Also knowing how people in her land put the Everlights to use, she felt better with at least another one of them out of reach.
The mere thought made her nervous.
Maybe she should also get herself a stone necklace like Zain, who refused to tell her what the red stone was about and kept on fondling with it whenever he was nervous and thought she didn’t notice.
This illustration was probably the longest I have ever made on the IPad, starting off in sketchbook pro for the sketches, heading over to Procreate, with 28769 brushstrokes and nearly 30 hours in time and the last few adjustments and touch ups were done in Artstudio Pro.
The story for both of them has been in my head for a while and I have tried several versions to introduce both of the characters before I settled for this scene, going for a book cover style artwork.
