Eternal Friends of the Heart
Eternal Friends of the Heart (EFOTH) is a fictional narrative told through the perspective of a young adult who is remembering and reflecting on a long lost part of her childhood, when she had imaginary friends. This publication serves as a reflective autobiography of the remembrance of this part of her life, one that she grew out of, but still fondly remembers in bits and pieces. It also investigates the roles of imaginary friends amongst lonely children and how they help in children's emotional development and integration into real social situations.

Through the recollection of her memories, this publication explores the protagonist's inner journey through her childhood in the manifestation of thoughts and ideas that she never knew she had, using visual and graphic storytelling. Since memory is inconsistent and inaccurate, various narrative languages are employed to best convey her straightforward versus abstract memories/emotions. Graphic novels, photography, archivals, illustrations and typographic art is used to convey this.

Hello, this is Celia, the creator of this publication.
This is a work of fiction. Although its form is that of a semi-autobiography, it is not one. Space and time have been rearranged to suit the convenience of the book, and any resemblance to persons living or dead is coincidental.
The characters of this book are entirely fictional. The personalities, conversations and designs of the characters do, however, abide by substantial research and are crafted accordingly.

Eternal Friends of the Heart is, on the surface, an experimental autobiography about a young adult (Yu En) reflecting on her childhood when she had imaginary friends, but by dissecting the layers of this story, the publication also investigates the roles of imaginary friends amongst lonely children and examines how they can help in a child’s emotional development and integration into real social situations. I hope this publication provides some new perspectives about imaginary friends to those who’ve never had them, as well as kindling a sense of nostalgia and sentimentality to those who’ve had. Thank you very much for reading.
