Book cover illustrations

Illustration comissions for Ediciones del Ermitaño. They Requested grayscale images that could be printed in only black ink over recycled cardboard, as this is the aesthetic characteristic of their collections.
El País de Origen is about a child born in the Malaysian peninsula (part of the Dutch empire) in the begining of the XX century, later he travels to Paris and becomes a writer.
This first design was rejected.
Final illustration showing the protagonist in his early years alienated in the islands with the clouds forming the Malaysian peninsula as background.
Detail.
The second cover was for te novel «El tango del desasosiego» by Gustavo Sainz, a tale of broken relationships and love affairs.
The main character.
The third cover was for «La noche que asolaron Tokio» novel by Diego Bajamar, and the editor wanted to illustrate a scene from the story when the main character finds a weird dude buried below a big mammoth bone trying to get out, and he helps him. In the story this character seems to be comfortable if a bird takes his eye out of its socket, and his arm sometimes fell off... So basically a zombie.
It's always fun to draw zombies.
Detail.
In the end the editorial wasn't kind enough to give me copies, neither to provide some quality pictures of the finished product.
But they uploaded this images to their instagram.
