Pixelbuds Pro was a different type of challenge for our team: the hands-on collaboration and physical iteration of our usual process was upended to accommodate remote working during the onset of the pandemic. Nevertheless, we found new ways to collaborate with Audio Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Human Factors Research to design Google's first earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation -- which required creating a novel shape to fit a broad range of ears while enabling improvements over the last generation: improved antenna, double the battery, better comfort, and a constellation of highly-tuned microphones.
