Flowers in the Art of the 20th and 21st Century
Flowers have been a common theme in art for centuries. At the same time, they accompany us in everyday life and are associated with a multitude of personal memories. Based on its own collection, the Museum Ostwall in the Dortmunder U presents artistic positions of the 20th and 21st centuries that focus on flowers and make use of a wide variety of media, such as painting, photography, video, and installation. 180 works by almost 50 artists illustrate the development of floral representations from classical modernism to contemporary art and reflect the artistic and medial transformation processes.
The appearance and the visual line of the exhibition communication, which we developed, include not only the word mark, but also a typographic system and a color concept. The exhibition appearance was applied to a variety of media inside and outside the exhibition, digital and analog, moving and static.
