I submitted this work to be considered as the image of the prestigious Locarno 75 Film Festival. Even though i didn't win, I wanted to share.
GUIDING THEME (”LOOKING BACK AT THE YEARS”)
75 years of life for any individual or organisation is a big deal.
IN THE CASE OF THE LOCARNO FILM FESTIVAL, it brings to bear its rich and exciting cinematic experiences over the years.
RATIONALE FOR ART DIRECTION
The art direction is an ode and celebrates the visual elements of the Locarno Film Festival, whiles taking a reflective look at the life of the Festival and all the rich experiences it has brought cinema lovers over the years.
To do this, THE LEOPARD, THE PIAZZA GRANDE, THE NUMBER ”75”, A VINTAGE HAND-HELD CAMERA AND THE RAYS OF A FILM PROJECTOR are creatively composited.
The LEOPARD, the main visual element of the festival is boldly shown in all of its glory looking back at the 75 year journey cast by the film projector light rays emanating from the “7” in the “ 75” which plays the role of the hand-held vintage camera .
We also pay homage to the PIAZZA GRANDE by illustrating a picture of it and using that to fill up the 75 in silohuette-like fashion, creating a beautiful and unique pattern.
