In 1943, New Zealand company, Blackwell and Sons, began selling hand-built Pashley bicycles.  Pashley bicycles are built for style, reliability and comfort rather than blinding speed.  Their customers value an uncomplicated, gentler-paced cycling lifestyle.

Over time, they discovered a groundswell of appreciation and desire for a slower, simpler lifestyle.  It encompasses any ideas or pastime - from preparing and consuming locally sourced food, to walking, gardening, reading, photography or simply breathing in nature.

For part of their gardening product line, Blackwell and Sons chose Douglas Schneider's illustrations for their seed packet packaging. They used a combination of existing stock illustrations and new commissioned paintings.
