Always Late album cover
THE BRIEF
I was commissioned to create the cover artwork for Always Late's self-titled debut album. The female duo is an experimental powerhouse who create delicious melodic reveries from their studio in Brick Lane.
THE SOLUTION
Drawing from the serene, dreamlike qualities of their music, the album artwork explored the idea of charting the human body (the palm, as entry point into the soul) by means of a topographic map — a metaphor for emotionally mapping the feelings roused by their music. Keeping in vein with their ambiental trademark sound, the pastel colours mirror the soft qualities of their songs, while adding layering and depth through the worn, lived-in textures.
