Gender in our children's books – a dataviz
Kids are absorbing the world around them. They are creating their knowledge and believes from scratch. We, as parents, are trying to set an example of an equal relationship. Plus we read a lot to our children. Thus I was wondering: What are we telling our kids about the roles of men and women in the books we are reading to them?

I wanted to focus on
a) what do our kids see? = who is appearing and what are they doing?
b) how to change things? = where did we get the books from? Which aspects should we keep an eye on?
Final project
Before coming up with the final idea I thought into various directions. First I wanted to create different characters for each book according to my collected data. That did not work for me ... The same with some sort of garlands.
Here are some steps of my work on the final design. I put some thoughts into grouping and order of the books. I also wondered if I should display all the titles or rather some interesting thoughts and annotations. (I went for the last one.)
Another aspect to think about: colors. I tried various variants to find a palette that is different from the "industry standard". :)
