Contrasts on Piccapietra

Contrasts on Piccapietra
Contrasts on Piccapietra is a series of pattern born from non-Genoan’s point of view during the Covid 19 pandemic.
The Piccapietra district in the centre of Genoa, not far from Piazza de Ferrari, one of the most important Genoa’s landmark, is a forgotten island. Rebuilt after the II World War,  according to modernist principles, it has now become a non-place, a crossing point with no human interaction.
This project has been developed 100% online, and the observation of Piccapietra has been done only through Google Maps.
This project aims to illustrate a new perspective of this peculiar area of Genoa. The point of view from a non Genoa’s persona, who has seen the possibilities above the abandon.
These patterns were created from the observation of modernist architecture, taking into account both the architectural elements and the defects, resulting from neglect and decay.
