I'm usually itching for any reason to draw little houses, so when I had this idea - I jumped on it.  

A lot of the details in this piece seem like generic hometown type ideas - but they remind me a lot of the place I grew up.  

 

Fountain in town center? (Come on, it's iconic.)

I struggled with type placement and lettering style decisions for this piece - but I ultimately decided to let the illustration be more important, rather than having things compete for attention.

My color study for this one actually ended up being close to the original. I only made a few minor adjustments along the way.
