Tres láminas de ilustración botánica, desarrolladas por encargo del Jardín Botánico Atlántico de Gijón en 2010, representando las tres especies más destacadas del género Jovellana (conocidas como "capachitos" en Perú y Chile), compuesto por unas pocas especies de plantas perennes herbáceas y arbustos bajos. Fueron catalogadas y descritas por H. Ruiz y J. A. Pavón en la expedición al virreinato del Perú (s. XVIII), y deben su nombre a Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos, político ilustrado impulsor de la publicación Flora Peruviana et Chilensis (1798-1802), donde se recogía su descripción.
Three plates of botanical illustration, commissioned by the Botanic Garden of Gijón in 2010, and representing the top three species of Jovellana (named 'capachitos' in Peru and Chile), composed of few species of herbaceous perennials and low shrubs. They were cataloged and described by H. Ruiz and J. A. Pavon during their botanical expedition to the Viceroyalty of Peru (18th century), and are named after Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos, important spanish political of the 18th century and impeller of the publication Flora peruviana et chilensis (1798-1802) where these species were described.
