CERAMICS: SALT AND PEPPER SHAKER

BRIEF
Inspired by our chosen South African product brand, we are required to design and develop a salt and pepper shaker to be fabricated through the ceramic making process A 1 or 2-part mold will be considered when working with the master pattern. Design aspects should be considered such as scale/proportion, textures, colours, forms, materials and functionality to achieve a successful design product. The respective design is to portray characteristics of the brands aesthetic.

PROCESS & REFLECTION
In this ceramic project, the MDF pattern making was quite a challenge. My unique design consisted of various forms and ambiguous shapes. After the pattern making the project moved onto mould making out of Plaster of Paris. Once the mould became bone dry I gently sanded it until smooth and it was ready to be bisque fired. After the first firing and glazing process began where I had white & black glossy glaze available. The white glazed shakers came out successfully but the black glazed didn't.
