Cyber Season

3D Motion
After Effects
I was asked to design and direct this project for the wonderful people at Native Instruments and their annual Cyber Season. The aim was to create a 30 second animated piece that was modular (for different edits and content), as well as design stills for web and promotional material.

The visuals needed to reflect music and sound in some way, without being overly cliché, so the route and core concept that we ended up running with was based on the shape of sonic sound waves. With this as an inspiration starting point, it was then artistically abstracted to create a unique and eye-catching visual identity for Cyber Season and Native Instruments.

Sonic Sound Waves - Reference Imagery

The project really took shape (no pun intended) once sonic sound wave patterns were established as a conceptual driver. Some of the designs directly reference these images above.

Early Development Frames
Below are some examples of some early design development before finding the conceptual direction. Many of these were close to the 'feel' of what was needed, but didn't quite hit the mark. However, these were a necessary stepping stone to get to where we needed to be.
