Disappeared Completely - End-day condition

This animation was commissioned by Ukrainian band Disappeared Completely. I was allowed to create without any visual restrictions and specific rules.
The final piece consists of different 'layers': hand-drawn and scanned abstract illustrations, textures, frame-by-frame animation, visual effects, hand-written text and experimental animation done in After Effects.
Here is the mix of traditional (watercolour, gouache, ink, pencils) and digital illustrations. They were created and consequently used as base layers in animation.
These are the first mood boards, which were approved by the client. I knew that I was not going to work with a strict storyboard. I wanted to be experimental with my techniques and combine a lot of textures and abstract visuals (in dark blue tones).
These are the close-ups and scans of traditional illustrations. I used most of them in my final piece.
The initial exploration of animation techniques. I decided to combine rich colourful background illustrations, frame-by-frame linear animation, textures and various effects.
