Extraordinary People Week Documentary

In preparation of my video production, I obtained the branding elements of each institution our employees would be visiting. I then built a rough editing template in Adobe Premiere Pro and added our own company’s branding, set up the introduction sequence, segues and captions. I also researched appropriate background music options. I then arranged meetings with each event coordinator 1 week prior to the start of Extraordinary People Week to plan out the course of each day’s activities, discover who would be our on-site contact at each venue and form a roster of the specific employees who would be volunteering for the event. I then traveled to each location 2-3 days before each event to capture establishing shots, scout out possible interview backdrops and gain a better sense of the layout of the venue.
On the day of each event, I arrived ahead of our volunteers to set up equipment and meet with the on-site contact to introduce myself and sign any non-disclosure forms. I created a brief shot list based on the number of volunteers, the activities planned and the venue layout. When all the volunteers arrived, I gathered them for a group shot, complete with our corporate banner and event cheer. I then roamed the event, capturing activities and interactions and even helping out with volunteer tasks when time permitted.
At week’s close, I chose a few key volunteers to interview for commentary to be used in the final edit. I built each section of the video, adding music and captions where needed. I then gathered some valuable statistics regarding the outcome of our efforts to put at the end of the documentary. With many hours of footage to comb through and audio to normalize, I was able to complete my final edit in 5 business days.
The documentary was shared on the company intranet (WorkPlace), gaining a great deal of attention from our offices across the U.S., South America and Europe. Positive feedback included many remarks concerning enhanced pride in the company, a more positive outlook on the direction of the company and increased trust with management as well as peers. The documentary served as an excellent example of company values and initiatives while further deepening the culture of the Lisle office.
