In-ring type joints, which excel in high-pressure, high-temperature applications like oil field drilling equipment, and metallic ring type gaskets, are employed. Additionally, valve and piping assemblies employ these couplings. The RTJ gasket is intended for pipeline applications involving high pressure and/or high temperature. As a result, they are the minimum requirement for API specification flanges. Applications include high integrity pressure vessel couplings, pipework assemblies, and oil field valves. They employ a gasket in compression, much as conventional flanges, to provide a solid junction. But there are various ways in which an RTJ flange is different from the more popular flat and raised face flange:

•    Instead of using a gasket made of flat composite material, a steel ring is                 employed.

•    The surface of an RTJ flange from RTJ Gasket Supplier has a groove drilled            into it to receive the gasket.

•    The metal-to-metal seal is created when the gasket deforms.

•    The gasket's softer metal flows into the harder flange material's micro fine                structure when it is compressed.

It is possible for the raised faces of two connected and tightened RTJ flanges to come into contact. When this occurs, the squeezed gasket won't have to support any more weight. The benefit is that excessive tightness, vibration, and movement will not compromise the joint's structural integrity.
