Chinese seals guidebook

In chinese calligraphy or even chinese painting, Four Treasures of the Study plays a very important role. It consists of paper, writing brush, ink stick and inkstone. But, there is also one thing that i personally felt that it is important too.

Chinese seals is like a signature but in a form of a stamp. It is quite crucial as it indicates the completion of an art piece. In other words, once an artist stamp his artwork with a chinese seals, the artwork is considered finished. The amazing thing about Chinese seals is that it has many different design and each design has meaning to it. It is also classified into two types, stamp with a red background and without a red background. Even the red paste that is used to stamp has its knowledge too.

Thus, i'm doing this project besides to introduce a local design/culture but the ultimate goal is to allow the target audience to have a better understanding on the Chinese seals.

My target audience in this case is the young amateurs learner in Chinese Painting.
So, i have designed a guidebook or infobook that talks about Chinese seals in terms of its history, types of Chinese seals, how to use and so on and so forth.

A simple draft on the layout design of the book
The overall final look of the book design.

I decided to make the book like the ancient chinese book with the japanese book binding method as i wanted to create a very chinese-oriented feeling. Also, i wanted the guidebook to be exclusive in order to attract the readers to purchaase as a reading material or something that is memorable and nice to keep.
