Google Calendar - Redesign
Improve the Google Calendar - Only move objects or resize
When I begin a project I explore the space. On this project we were given a template google calender, then asked to redesign it. Our constraint list was short, but vast. Our one stipulation was that we could only move 'objects' around (we were free to define what an 'object' was).
The original design was a screenshot from our AI's personal google calendar.
Problem The sequence of objects is a fragmented external cognition set. Moving from left to right the granularity begins at a month's time, then a day's time, then a moment's time.

Solution
By matching the flow from left to right with the granularity of the events they layout, the page has a natural progression. The tasks are on the far left, the daily/weekly/monthly layout is in the center, and the macro-level calendar is on the far right side.
Final Design
The experience delivered through the pairing of the flow of the site and American's natural progression to read from left to right matches the user's mental model, enhances their delivery of information to the interface, and encourages efficient use of the interface.
