What is momat?

Momat is a design solution that improves self-sufficiency, safety, and practicality in low vision's and blind people's mobility. It was exhibited and won 1st place in Inedito Universitario's 6th edition of Design Week Mexico 2020. It also received an honorable mention in the 3rd Scientific Design International Forum (2022) which took place at Shanghai University Of Engineering Science.

The mobility mates are able to complement the white cane's use, the daily basis mobility element in low vision's and blind people's lives. These products are separated in 2 families, the add-on mates and the carry-on mates.

Cane holder

The cane holder is a two-component product that enables the person to use both hands when they need to stop using the white cane.

The ring and clip are conically assembled to prevent components from separating, and thanks to its rotatory movement, the not-using white cane can adapt to different positions while sitting.

Retractable tip

The retractable tip is a product that isolates the tip of the white cane while it's in disuse to prevent bacteria, microbes, and dirt to get in touch with belongings and surfaces.

It provides a more hygenic user experience since the white cane's tip is exposed to so many environmental factors while using. Usually the person puts it over the table, or saves it in their bags without knowing how unclean it is. It also has a phosphorescence feature to improve the user's safety at night and in low light places.

Magnetic rings

Set of rings that allows a faster folding of the white cane, and improves personal safety thanks to a phosphorescence feature that activates in low light places.

Handle with strap

The retractable strap is compatible with the cane holder's ring for a more practical usage. Its textured sleeve reduces stress levels, protects the cane's handle material, and has a phosphorescence glow.

Hard case

The hard case is a product that improves portability of the white cane and other essential objects while they are in disuse.

Its strap can be locked in two positions so it can be carried out in different ways. The front compartment can keep inside the white cane, bottles, umbrellas, and more. The back compartments were designed to contain smaller objects like smartphones or headphones.

Light case

The light case is a smaller and practical version of the hard case with an easy adjustable strap. The person can access in a easier and quicker way to the white cane, and its back compartments are set for smaller objects.
