Here is an advertisement I did for Broadband Wireless in RF / Wireless Magazine.  The client provided a picture and some text with no other direction, and I had about a day to get it in to the editor.  I re-created the clients logo in Adobe Illustrator (after I found it in one of their datasheets in low resolution).  If you look at the client's website, you can see that I was able to improve the representation of their brand and message rather effectively.
