At the end of last year, I discovered the New Zealand comedy group UpsideDown Shark - among other things, they put together a series of webisodes called 'Bed time stories', where they take famous movies and reinterpret them in the form of satirical, pop culture savvy parodies; in the guise of children's stories (but they're not, by the way). And, as luck would have it, they needed illustrators / cartoonists to create pics for their latest selection of tales! Without further ado, I ended up with 'Frosty Balboa', a glorious, subversive mash-up of the original 'Rocky' as filtered through the charming tale of Frosty the Snowman - just what my warped sensibilities desired! Each story features ten illustrations interspersed with one of the presenters reading their bedtime-story-on-recreational-drugs.... and here, in living colour, are the artworks utilised for the ballad of Frosty Balboa!
