MAHAIKO

Mahaiko is a Basque word that means "commensal". A company that was born with the aim of offering personalized gastronomic routes through the Basque Country for the many tourists, nationals and especially foreigners, who move in search of unique and authentic experiences.

The creators of Mahaiko are two lovers of both Basque gastronomy and Japanese culture and gastronomy, for this reason, the introspection work prior to the creation of the Moodboard led us to kintsugi, a centuries-old Japanese technique that consists of repairing the pieces of broken ceramics with a paste dyed gold, transforming them into unique and much more beautiful pieces. This technique has become a powerful metaphor for the importance of resistance and self-love in the face of adversity. We liked this philosophy linked to kintsugi so much that we decided to incorporate it into Mahaiko's philosophy and have it reflected in its visual identity.

The symbol is an M made up of “broken” pieces and put back together to give it a new meaning. We make our own kintsugi: starting from a lauburu and breaking it down until we reach the final result.

Likewise, Mahaiko takes the pieces that make up Basque gastronomy and puts them back together, creating new and unique experiences, adapted to the taste of each traveler.

To reinforce the idea, we created the tagline: Tailor-made Basque gastronomy, which clearly defines what Mahiko offers its customers.

The process.
