This was a public art commission that I did for University City in 2012. I researched that history of the city and developed 5 works that showed 5 locations along the main town strip in onld photographs. The photos reflected the city history as it was 100 years ago in its founding and important economic changes that have shaped the town. Each photo was placed at the site of the original shot so that when the viewer looked through the image they could perfectly overlay what the city looked like almost 100 year ago with modern day.

 

The plaques at the bottom of each frame have brief captions explaining and dating the photoes.

I chose simple frame design so that photos and placment were most important.

 

This project won a secondary award for best University City Public Art Work for 2012.
