awesome photo project
In a world of permanent sensory overload and technical reproducibility, photography is a very special medium. Unfortunately, images on the internet, especially in social media, are often only consumed on a cell phone and swiped away with the superficiality of a hand gesture.
"awesome" was created as a master's thesis at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts in Kiel. Focus: concept and design, strategic communication. The idea was and is to create a melting pot for different forms of photography, for established photographers and newcomers. For artists who use the photo as a form of expression of their creativity, for whom photography is a lifestyle.

Since photos lose their space on the screen and are robbed of their liveliness there, "awesome" became a print magazine. "awesome" brings the powerful shots from the digital world into the analog one, creating something tangible, something to touch. Because photographs need more time again - time for engagement, time for examination. In "awesome" they can outlast the fleeting moment.

However, it is not only the work that is presented, but also the views and thoughts of the people behind the camera. In the first issue there are stories about polar bears and about mysterious countries like Myanmar, there are insights into the fashion photography and anecdotes from the lives of the photographers. There are sections devoted to the most important areas of photography. There are contributions on "yesterday heroes", as well as speed interviews as part of the "what are you currently doing?" format. From "humans" to "habitats", from "commercials" to "abstract", there is something from every direction.
