IDEA SKETCHES
STORY
I am using my cultural background in my mood board and sketches I chose the Protea South Africa’s national flower and the name of our national sports teams. I was brought up in a house with a South African manner and the boere Afrikaner history. The lines I am using are based on African patterns because I live in an environment with a lot of cultures. I loved African patterns as a child but with the design, I kept it simple by only using straight lines. The diamond in the design is too round of the design and south Africa is the diamond of Africa in my eyes.

LINO-MASTER PATTERN
I have cut the designed sketches out of the Lino. The Lino will give the plate a hand-made feeling with the cut-out pieces’ strokes, visible as texture. I have cut out a positive and negative version, to see what looks best.
MOULD
I made the mould out of contractor's silicone which is a very cheap alternative to the normal moulding silicone.
CAST PROTOTYPE
I made a resin cast from the mould which I sprayed brons to resemble the final cast product.
